“Kurt at 69: Still Sharp, Still Cool, Still Making Gen X Curious.”

Diet & Eating Habits

With a Middle Eastern mother and Eastern European father, Kurt grew up on a Mediterranean-style diet rich in fresh, whole foods. His meals reflect that balance today:

  • Breakfast: A spoonful of honey, two tablespoons of peanut butter, milk, fruit with cottage cheese, and often an omelet. On weekends, bacon or sausage with eggs.

  • Lunch: Chicken with rice and beans, a Chipotle burrito bowl, fresh tacos, or hearty sandwiches like tuna, roast beef, or gyros—always with fresh ingredients. Grapefruit juice is his go-to lunch drink.

  • Dinner: Small portions of Mexican street corn, olives with feta, mixed nuts, sliced tomato and cucumber with Italian dressing, followed by a protein like steak, seafood, or sausages. Green tea rounds out the meal. On weekends, he enjoys exploring ethnic cuisines—Italian, Asian, or Latin.

He avoids chips, cookies, donuts, and fries, but allows himself one ice cream bar or serving a week as a treat.

"Getting in shape and staying young doesn’t take a miracle, just discipline — and the willpower to walk past the fridge at midnight."

Fitness & Training

Kurt does not look like he is 69 years old, and his body is very toned. When asked how he stays so youthful, he explained he works out every other day, and on off-days he rides his stationary or mountain bike for 45 minutes. He also plays pickleball three times a week and swims on the weekend.  His home workout—developed during the COVID-19 lockdown—proved so effective that he never went back to the gym.

His routine includes 3–4 sets of:

  • 50 pushups

  • 20 dips

  • 30 bent-knee sit-ups

  • 20 leg raises or V-ups

  • 20 crunches

  • 20 lunges (each leg)

  • 20 squats with 40 pounds

  • 15 burpees

  • Afterwards stretch for 20 minutes

  •

Kurt emphasizes that everyone’s body is different, and the key is finding the workout that works best for you.

The Result

At 69, Kurt look younger, and he lives younger. His discipline, diet, and active lifestyle have given him a body and energy level that defy his age. For him, health is about building habits that let him thrive and enjoy activities he did when he was young.
