Gen X for Men: Flirting With Wisdom

So here’s the deal. In this Gen X for Men corner of my world, I didn’t just want to throw random stats or recycled internet advice at you. Nah, your girl Liz wanted the real deal. And who better to spill the secrets of health, style, and aging gracefully than our “older brothers” in the generational lineup—the Baby Boomers? Yep, those guys. The ones who somehow manage to look healthy, still crack jokes, and pull off being charming at an age when most of us assume they should be yelling at clouds.

Now, before you ask—yes, I actually know some of these Boomers personally. I didn’t just Google “healthy old guys” and call it research. These are real men I’ve met, chatted with, and okay, maybe flirted with just a little. What can I say? A Gen X woman knows how to get honest answers. Sometimes a wink works better than a survey form.

And let me tell you, these Boomers were not shy about sharing. One laughed and said, “It’s simple, I just quit smoking in the 80s and stuck with one woman who lets me eat bacon.” Another proudly told me that stretching every morning keeps him young, even if it looks more like a confused yoga attempt than a fitness routine. And then there was my favorite—a silver fox who swore the secret was laughter. “If you can still laugh at your own bad knees, you’re gonna be fine,” he said.

I have to admit, there’s something refreshing about their honesty. Unlike the glossy magazine articles or the “10 easy hacks” posts we scroll past, these guys gave it to me straight—sometimes with a punchline attached. They weren’t trying to sell me a miracle supplement or convince me to run a marathon. They just shared what actually worked for them, flaws and all.

But here’s the playful truth: as much as I was “interviewing” them, I was also low-key checking if they still had that spark. Spoiler alert—they do. And that got me thinking: maybe part of staying healthy as we age isn’t just about vitamins, cardio, or cutting carbs. Maybe it’s about keeping that playful, flirty energy alive. Maybe it’s about still enjoying the fun of human connection, no matter what year is on your birth certificate.

So, my Gen X brothers, here’s what I took away for you:

  • Keep moving—even if it’s just stretching, walking, or dancing like nobody’s watching.

  • Don’t give up on humor—because nothing ages you faster than being too serious.

  • Take care of your relationships—having someone to share your bacon (or your laughter) with really does matter.

  • And hey, don’t be afraid to flirt back—apparently, it keeps you honest.

At the end of the day, health isn’t just measured by blood pressure or cholesterol levels. It’s also measured in smiles, jokes, and the energy you give off. And if these Boomers can keep rocking it at their age, there’s hope for all of us Gen Xers too.

So, gentlemen, consider this your friendly nudge from your Gen X girl: take care of yourself, keep the laughter alive, and don’t underestimate the power of a little harmless flirting. Because who knows—you might just get interviewed by me next.

Our Collection of our Baby Boomers

This site is built on trust — and a little friendly jealousy. So, I called in a 69-year-old Baby Boomer who somehow looks younger than my favorite filter. He was kind enough to share his secret… and no, it’s not magic, it’s mindset (and maybe good supplements).

Kurt is 69 years old, though you’d never guess it by looking at him. He mountain bikes, plays competitive pickleball, hikes, swims, and works out three to four times a week. His toned physique and boundless energy distinguishes him from other people is age.

When asked about the secret to his youthful condition, Kurt points to a lifetime of healthy habits. He never smoked and rarely drank, knowing early on that smoking in particular could shave years off both health and vitality. Growing up with a dentist father, he was never allowed much sugar—no candy, no sodas—and that discipline stuck. Even today, he avoids processed foods, sugary drinks, and alcohol.

What surprises many is that Kurt doesn’t follow the typical “low-fat” diet. Instead, he embraces whole milk, eggs, butter, animal fats, and plenty of protein—foods he believes are essential for testosterone production and brain health. Influenced by experts like Dr. Andrew Huberman and his own experience, he’s confident these choices have supported his longevity and vitality.
