Menopause Journey. When I Finally Understood What Was Happening to Me

I remember when I was young — so full of energy, laughter, and life. At 35, I was already learning to take care of myself after facing a heart failure and even a heart attack. I thought eating healthy, working hard, and staying active would be enough to keep me young and strong forever.

But when I hit 50, everything changed. Suddenly, I didn’t want to work out anymore. I felt tired all the time, unmotivated, and easily irritated. I started to push away my friends and loved ones because everything and everyone seemed to annoy me.

I used to think depression was just an excuse — something people said because they didn’t want to face reality. I even told myself that those who said “I’m depressed” were just being dramatic. But when I turned 50, those dark thoughts started creeping into my own mind. I felt useless, empty, and like life had lost its meaning. There were moments I even thought, maybe I don’t need to be here anymore.

My friends said I was depressed. I didn’t believe them, but I went to see a psychiatrist anyway. They prescribed antidepressants — but something inside me told me to wait. My faith in God was still there, even if it was just a small spark. I prayed for answers instead.

Then one night, during my late-night Google searches, I stumbled upon something that changed everything — hormones. I started reading about menopause, and suddenly it all made sense. I wasn’t crazy. I wasn’t weak. I was going through a major hormonal shift that affected everything — my body, my mind, and even my soul.

That discovery didn’t just explain what was happening to me. It helped me forgive myself, heal, and start again — this time, with understanding and grace.

“How I Found Myself Again — Naturally”

After realizing I was going through menopause, I stopped blaming myself. For years, I thought I was just being lazy, moody, or ungrateful. But the truth was, my hormones were running the show — and I had no idea.

Instead of rushing to take medication, I decided to take charge of my own healing. I started researching how natural supplements, balanced nutrition, and simple daily habits could help bring my body back into balance. I learned about how estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone play a big role not only in mood but also in energy, skin, focus, and motivation.

I began rebuilding myself — slowly. I added magnesium to calm my mind, DIM to help balance estrogen, and saffron to lift my mood. I made sleep a priority, even if it meant saying no to late-night distractions. I went back to walking, dancing, and doing light workouts that made me feel alive again.

Most importantly, I started listening to my body — not fighting it.

And you know what? I found her again — that strong, joyful, unstoppable woman I thought I’d lost. The one who laughs for no reason, who still believes in life, and who wants to help others feel the same.

That’s why I started sharing my story through CXGenX — because women like us, especially Gen X, deserve to understand what’s happening inside our bodies. We’re not broken. We’re just evolving — and once we know how to balance our hormones, we glow again, inside and out.
